A pretty village at the gateway to the Portes du Soleil.
Les Gets is a genuinely charming French village that also happens to open onto the enormous Portes du Soleil, the ski area that spans the French and Swiss border. It is a firm family favourite thanks to gentle terrain and a warm, traditional feel.

The skiing
The tree lined runs are a joy in bad weather and lovely on a bluebird day, and the wider Portes du Soleil gives stronger skiers hundreds of kilometres to explore. Beginners and children are especially well looked after here.
The village and the evenings
The centre keeps its character with a proper village square, good restaurants and a mechanical music museum that the kids enjoy on a rest afternoon. It feels lived in rather than staged.
Getting there
Geneva is barely over an hour away, which makes Les Gets one of the quickest French transfers going.
