Who Schladming suits, and who it suits less
Best for
- Groups of friends. Schladming is a lively ski town with cafés, bars and events all season, from the December Ski Opening concerts to the Nightrace on 26 and 27 January 2027.
- Après. Après runs from the huts and bars at the foot of the Planai into the town's bars, and the Nightrace and the Ski Opening are the two biggest parties.
- Mileage chasers. Hauser Kaibling, Planai, Hochwurzen and Reiteralm join into one area of about 123 kilometres of groomed piste, part of the wider Ski amadé region.
Less good for
- Snow sure. The town sits at 745 metres and the skiing tops out at 2,001 metres, so the slopes depend more on the weather than in higher resorts.

Five regions on one pass, not all of them joined to each other. Dorfgastein and Grossarl are lift-linked, most of the rest are not. Roughly 51 of the 260 lifts are magic carpets. The largest genuinely linked domain inside the pass is the 12 Peaks run from Zauchensee through Flachau to Alpendorf, at over 210km since the Panorama Link opened. Schladming's four-mountain Skischaukel is a separate 123km domain, seamlessly linked end to end but not joined to the 12 Peaks. Wikipedia's 860km body text contradicts its own infobox; discard it.
