Arosa sits at the head of a sunny valley and links by cable car to Lenzerheide, making a surprisingly large combined area. The village sits at 1,775m and the skiing tops out at 2,653m, and the season runs December to April. On the piste it is a real strength for improvers moving from blue into red and confident intermediates.

Who Arosa suits, and who it suits less
Best for
- Families with young children. Children learn through play at Prätschli and the Beerenland, the local buses are free, and there is an indoor fun park for a bad weather day.
- Non skiers. Non skiers have winter walks from the Hörnli to Innerarosa, a Planets Trail, toboggan runs, horse drawn carriages and lifts up to meet the group for lunch.
- Mileage chasers. The Urdenbahn cable car links Arosa with Lenzerheide, making about 225 kilometres of piste and 43 lifts across the two resorts on one pass.
- Snow sure. Arosa sits at 1,775 metres, we measure 65 percent of the piste above 1,800 metres, and the linked area reaches 2,848 metres.
Less good for
- Après. Evenings are calm, in the huts at the end of the day and the hotel bars in the village, so groups after a party week should look elsewhere.
- Off piste. Strong skiers who want lots of steep terrain may find the area gentle, since much of the skiing across the two resorts is easy and intermediate cruising.

Zurich is about two and a half hours away, with a scenic narrow gauge train for the final climb.
